Living On Purpose: Aligning Your Faith With Your Life's Mission
Jul 17, 2023Last week, one of the most influential people in my entire life died.
For my entire life, she had been the Senior Pastor of the church I was born in.
For half of my life, she was my God-Grandmother.
She was the officiator at my wedding.
She visited me in college once with my family.
She started the church where my sister was a Sunday School teacher, dad has been an Associate Pastor, and my mom has been over the mission and Trumpet Room.
I name tangible things because I don’t know how to put into words the massiveness of her influence and impact.
And not just for me, but for so many that I know, have known, and met over the last 30+ years.
And why do I share this with you? Well, I had a coach who suggested that every day we should share the message on our hearts to the world.
My message would be, live so if you died now, you are ready.
Live so your heart is clean.
Live so your conversation is clean.
Live so everything you do is edifying so that when your soul leaves this earth, not only will you go live with Jesus, the lives you touched are better because of who you chose to be.
Don’t live in fear.
Don’t live as a victim.
Don’t live rejecting love.
Don’t live limiting yourself or God.
Live as an ambassador of Christ whose very life shows what’s possible when you serve God.
That’s the most important message that we can ever share with someone else in my opinion.
I can share 10 ways to make $1,000 today, and I have, and that has a purpose. But making money without a God-led purpose behind it is worthless and short-lived.
“Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher.
“Vanity of vanities! All [that is done without God’s guidance] is vanity [futile, meaningless—a wisp of smoke, a vapor that vanishes, merely chasing the wind].” Ecclesiastes 1:2
But when we as Christian entrepreneurs use our resources to complete the assignment God gives each of us, we can be used in a massive way.
My challenge to you today is twofold:
1️⃣Examine your life, heart, and thoughts. Is there anything that God is not or would not be pleased with? Allow God to clean and correct as necessary.
2️⃣Revisit your why is business. Why did you start it? What is your goal? And what role does your faith play in your business? Let these answers infuse fresh momentum into everything you do this year so you can create the impact God created you to.
